FAQ
What’s a haiku?
“A traditional Japanese haiku is a three-line poem with seventeen syllables, written in a 5/7/5 syllable count. Often focusing on images from nature, haiku emphasizes simplicity, intensity, and directness of expression.” (Academy of American Poets)
Where can I read some haiku?
For starters, try “10 Vivid Haikus to Leave you Breathless” or “Examples of Haiku Poems: Traditional and Modern.”

With all due respect, none of DaVinci’s “poems” reflect contemporary English language haiku. They are conceptual statements divided into
three lines. There is no evidence of intuition. This comes as a relief
to me, a haiku poet who has been reading and writing haiku for 35 years.
Even the definition of haiku is outdated and inaccurate. For starters, syllables in English are not identical to those in Japanese so
the 5/7/5 rule does not apply except according to well-intentioned but
misinformed elementary school teachers. I encourage those interested in contemporary haiku to check out The Haiku Foundation as well as the Haiku Society of America’s website.

Acrostic: Summer
S unny days abound, as summer’s warmth unfurls,
U nleashing vibrant hues, a tapestry of pearls.
M ellow breezes whisper secrets through the air,
M agical moments linger, without a single care.
E ager laughter fills the days, from dawn ’til dusk,
R adiant sunbeams dance, turning moments to musk.
I want u to write 6 lines to follow “summer” acrostic.
Most of these are senryu. A natural subject is what defines haiku not a mere conformity to structure. It’s is the crystallisation of a moment as sensed by a transient entity. Delivered without opinion. Unselfconsciousness by both the writer and reader is vital in a haiku that resonates… see Keneth Yasuda
